Robin Oakes
Artist & Illustrator

Robin Oakes

Robin Oakes was born and raised in Kitchener Ontario. She began teaching art classes upon graduation from St Mary’s High school in 1992. She has been an art instructor for over 14 years, and focuses primarily on cartooning styles with her own original twist.  Robin has taught at many surrounding elementary schools, local community centers, galleries, and from her private home studio.   Information about art lessons is available here.

Robin has put her passion for drawing towards illustrating pictures for a series of children’s books, such as Something Is Missing  by Judy Woodhouse, and the children’s alphabet series Jazlyn J, written by Renna Bruce.

When not illustrating, Robin is busy producing murals for various clients.  She has worked closely with Kitchener's City Hall, contributing her knowledge and skills, working with the local youth through the Graffiti Busters program. Robin’s primary focus is producing child related themes at an array of community centers, recreational areas, local businesses, and private clients. You can see many of Robin’s murals throughout the city of Kitchener, including her most recent commission work located at Bingeman Park’s Fun Worx party rooms.

Robin enjoys entertaining with her caricature drawings for all kinds of parties and social events. She has been seen sketching at the Ontario Summer games 2002, Bingeman’s Oktoberfest, corporate events, Christmas parties and fundraising events. Robin’s love for drawing caricatures has also lead  to illustrating commissioned pieces for a wide group of people including musician Tom Cochran, the coaches for the Milwaukee Brewers baseball club, and hockey legend Walter Gretzky.

In her spare time Robin enjoys painting with acrylics on canvas. Robin’s paintings are a mixture of abstract, native, and fantasy  combined themes. All of her work is sold privately from her studio at home.

Robin has been very blessed to have worked with many talented artists over the years, and has had the privilege of meeting some incredibly inspirational people who have helped Robin with her journey along the way. Lots of love and thanks go to all of her family and friends who have been there to support Robin as an artist.
